Because they enforce a dress code.

It's called common sense, try to learn it sometime.

It's called whining like a neckbearded manchild. The real world is going to eat you alive, if you ever leave your parents' basement.

Nice projectionpost, now back to the issue:
Personally, I find dress codes pointless since once you get out of high school you're free to wear whatever you want, where you want, however, to accuse the school of "slut shaming" just goes to show that a 15 year old girl who is offended by a dress code violation, sees herself as being a slut and that the school's actions were them shaming her....SHE'S 15! If I said I was "slut shamed" then wouldn't I be implying that I'm a slut? I think this girl just wants some kind of media attention.

Obviously she has a tumblr and it will inevitably be found and trolled to death. And then hopefully she'll realize 2 things:
1) Slut-shaming does not exist
2) Media attention is always bad

Why do U.S. Americans put up with school principals strutting around like feudal lords in their own private fiefdoms, forcing people to conform to restrictions which are rarely imposed in the real world? Surely it's up to the
parents to decide what is appropriate for their own children to wear. Why don't they just tell the school administrators (or whoever it is that makes the rules) to just fuck off?

Because then the school suspends the child and the parent gets stuck enrolling the kid in an out-of-district or private school. The parent ends up creating a punishment for themselves. The only way to actually change any of these policies is to participate in the school board, and no middle school parent has time for that.

This isn't exclusive to America. A few years back, the headmistress of a middle school in my area decided to ban kissing, sagging and other fun stuff, while boasting about it in the local newspaper. Fortunately, I'm past the age where I have to deal with control freaks like that.

I still masturbate regularly to memories of high school jorts. Feminism is beautiful.
