Getting a job b4 you move wood depend on current work experience. So you're asking once you move to the new city how do you go about getting a job.
Again its a matter of skills you have. I got my first job which was the result of my hobby Ham Radio - TV repair shop. I thought I found the ideal gig but I was Soooooo Wrong.
The place was more about cheating customers and maxing profit so disenchanted but in need of cold hard cash to feed my expensive hobby and the car I wanted - I ended up bagging groceries for what is now Ralphs - quickly turned into stocking shelves and of course check out - the check out part I did not care as much as stocking shelves.
Back then it paid really good and even better then the TV repair - Could I have lived on that? Sure if I did the full 40 hours - I suspect now that kind of job pays far less then me on a Union gig - I could not work past 9PM re mall hours for market so got a 2nd job at a liquor store -
Betting a place to live means for you going Craigs list and looking at roommate situations. On MC dig up Falco and talk to him about his experience and I bet you can get lots of tips from people there and here re Roommate highs and lows -
Your current studies are on track for programming - Even if that is not what you end up with it leads to complex problem solving

Ever since so early on gigs my work has been only super high tek - Other then me making a lot and I mean a lot of money prior to the market TV job doing over grown back yards as chopping down tall grass with a store bought pepboys modified gas mower - Made it work at an angle with brackets and made huge amounts of money for hard work and expanded with friends doing gigs I could not on same weekend. Bought more mowers but it was mean hard nasty work -
The market? I enjoyed it - It paid ok - even more as a bonus for part tyme which is no longer done - Hours were super flexible re my school hours. They were grooming me for management when I finished school and they had no clue that was NOT going to happen cause I needed High Tek in my life.
Working the freezer was ARWFUL - but I never turned it down and could have. The TV job was not really awful either - Just did not care for the immoral nature of it. I did learn stuff so I did get something out of it b4 leaving
