No, but people seem to underestimate humanity's capability for not destroying themselves and overcoming catastrophic events.

Humans such as you and I go back 200,000 years and of course longer if you count the extant versions that failed to make it

Seems to me We have so far but hey One missile silo can launch 50 nukes or just one wayward comet can mess planet earth up something arful

Comets and other acts of God are out of our control though.
A nuclear war can be prevented through good diplomacy.

Even Putin probably knows if he were to launch a nuclear missile at the USA then he'd be condemning his own Russian people to death.

I hate to admit this cause it always comes back to haunt me in so many ways.

Look at that disk - Ancient eh? 60 minutes did a profile inside a real Nuke launch site - Leslie Stall did the interview

Tells you how old the system is nor is it going to be updated for many a year.

Now this was not covered ACCURATELY - She asked if the people could launch on own and they said NO - Only the President has the launch codes.

I can say that is not exactly accurate - A Base commander can in fact go bonkers and decide to launch on his or her own - There is for protection a lock out timer so that President can send in a team to stop bonkers commander from getting that launch going - Thing is Its the only system I worked on back in my Hughes R&D days in Malibu and damn if I could see a flaw in the design - But thing is it could not be repeated and lord knows we sure tried n tried

Anyway that flaw still bothers me but if you think DOD payed much attention then well nuff said

One just one person can set the 50 off - Security was such that I could not figure out how the base commander could decide where to send the nukes on his own but he sure could send them to pre determined places as decided long ago by DoD

Me thinks you miss sprelled Roasts

To save my life I don't think I could find one of those - do remember several years of free AOL disks that were tossed in junk mail almost every week

I liked when they started sending CDs in the metal trays. Those are nice for holding burned CDs. I have a couple of them in the basement too.
