Surfing is just a matter learning to balance and anyone who down hill skis is ONE UP on getting more better faster.

Those with skateboard experience are Wayyyyyy up on ease of learning and learning is just simple practice - Its maybe a bit harder to learn how to deal with mean Rip Currents and stay alive early on. Almost no one gets hurt Surfing cept of course for those Great White Sharks n some ijioooot running in2 you

People based on far 2many Movies end up dying in Pools n Baths. Real danger which is minor in Surfing is Crashing in2 rocks which is AVOIDABLE and the rare Shark and not so rare is Rip Tides cause beginners do not use the buddy system and have not practiced how to just play with the Rip Tide and not fight it.

I myself have never experienced the feeling of being pulled back in2 the Sea which is wot Rips do. Or with undertown being pulled down to drown.

But for sure I had at first fought that Rip action and then quickly said hey this AIN'T WORKING - and just relaxed n then discovered how easy it is to get out of the current and back to shore - OF COURSE not Exactly the place on shore I was planning 2get2

I have helped many casual swimmers get out of Rips - Hey 2day ran across a young baby seal on beach n called in help for the critter - Looked ok but Ocean 2day was just mean re crosswinds - Horrible for Surfing n only viewed one dude attempting

Ah actually the real danger which is very real indeed is not El Niño. Houses on Bluff North n South of me have lost backyards to Bluff crashing down to beach.

Everytyme there is an Earth Quake me and neighbors go down the stairs slowly 2 beach and carefully look for new cracks. Even a house or three has fallen down

Which is why on houses and Condos I lease out I have written quick vacate provision agreed2

ohhh my head does not feel nice...the movie 'Jaws' has kept me...since childhood...from swimming more than a few feet from shore...but I have been hundreds of miles from land many times...re: the Navy days..
