All the time. I have a gay friend I used to work with, one of his friends who would always hit the gay saunas got HIV he then found Jesus or "Jesus found him" as he put it. Sadly it didn't work out because all his new church friends wanted him to stop being gay and the church wanted a chunk of his income. Also a neighbor of my fathers became religious to help him quit drinking and it worked for him.

The Zapatistas were a very respectable lot (and their posterboy/spokesperson subcomandante Marcos was hard not to like) at one point but with Mexico's rich history of crypto-Judasim and the Reptoid/Mossad/KoC influence they ultimately strayed from the virtuous path in the late 90s.
All things considered, they're not to be trifiled with by the non-Resistance agents. The intermingling of these groups of course has made them all the more terrifying.
