Certain animals are carnivorous; humans are omnivorous. I do fine without meat, but a cat or a dog really wouldn't.

It can be done, some pro cyclists do, and they are pushing their bodies beyond just about any other human. Just be careful. Do it badly and things go south after a few years. Requires a lot more diligence than a "standard" diet.
That can go wrong, too. Bert's booze and Wendy's diet is a prime example.

That's fine, then. Vegan/vegetarian is all good as long as there's a reasonable way to do it, but health comes first. I don't mind if my vitamins aren't vegan.

Most people in this day and age feed their animals meat deemed unfit for human consumption mixed in with the cheapest shit you can find; a loving vegan owner who pays for vegan food would probably provide a better life.
