Topic: Wierd American views on Scottish independence
+Anonymous A — 12.5 years ago #33,458
Have any of you fellow Americans out there noticed that our friends, acquaintances in real life seem to think that Scottish Independence is pretty much a "done deal" and is the greatest world development ever?
Pretty much everyone I've encountered seems to talk of Scotland like some oppressed colony that will exercise its "self determination" and throw off the shackles for good. (Too much Braveheart)
The US Media isn't reporting on the issue so I have no idea where they are getting these ideas from, although I'm sure you realize that these views, while being totally idiotic, are not very popular in Scotland itself.
So what would cause this, do you know? I mean how Americans have such strong, romantic views of the upcoming Scottish referendum without having any personal knowledge of the situation, no ties to Scotland, and in most cases having never even set foot in Scotland? Is it really just Braveheart?

Americans drink too much milk containing hormones. It's melting their tiny brains.

You're probably right. I mean look at the sample of Americans on this board.

The opinion polls are still strong among three types of Scot:
Underclass single mother,
disabled spacker,
and old aged pensioner,
because Alex Solomon ("Salmond") the infiltrating occupying Jewlord promised the universe to these people in terms of continued welfare concessions and provisions, shielding them from Westminister cuts which in all fairness,
haven't been that severe.
I fear what kind of yobbish shithole Scotland will be left under after a yes vote is ratified.
