Topic: What do we do about Islamic extremism?

Barely a morning goes by in which a peek at the news doesn't reveal a new atrocity committed by Allah's most faithful.
They seem to pop up wherever there's a power vacuum and start killing moderates, as well as anyone else they deem non-believers. Not forgetting, of course, terrorist atrocities in major cities all over the globe. This death cult appears to be infecting more and more people, who seem bent on showing off their love for god with ever more bloody and depraved acts of sickening cruelty.
This fascist phenomenon seems to be the biggest human threat to humanity right now, especially since nuclear weaponry is becoming more widespread and easier to obtain. With this in mind, I wonder what the powers that be are planning to do to deal with the problem, if anything.
Will the UN form an army to tackle the emergence of these groups? Will these new automated attack robots play a part? How do we handle the constant radicalisation of young Muslims? Do we leave them to it and let Islam grow out of its raging adolescence, as older religions have done, hoping they don't get a nuke before Islam matures? Is it the responsibility of the West to intervene at all?
