By this view smokers are actually more of a degenerate group than fat people. Overeating fulfils one of the base pleasures that humans are designed to seek even to excess. Smokers gain their addiction fully educated that it kills them and continues to kill them all in return for a peripheral pleasure.
Drug users and smokers are worse than overweight people if you consider maintaining a healthy body the ultimate value and not just an appeasement to the norms of a sick society.
