1. One of the largest games ever made.Every location has been lovingly crafted which shows that Bethesda, developers of Skyrim, have succeeded in creating a world you can truly get lost in. This is a far cry from the previous Elder Scrolls games like Morrowind or Oblivion.
2. Totally non linear
Slaying dragons, conquering cities, murdering emperors, getting married, working at village sawmills, farms and forges, fishing, harvesting crops... You can quite literally and without exaggeration, do anything in Skyrim. If you want to be the Dragonborn and save the world, you can. If you want to be a blue collar working man who live a quiet life of tending his fields and reading books by the fireplace in the evening, you can. If you want to be a murdering thief fuckbag like Autphag, you can. By providing this amount of freedom to pursue whatever journey you want, you truly can make your own way. We can’t all save the world, after all.
3. Visually stunning.
The creation engine is the greatest gaming engine ever created. Visually stunning and amazing physics. I believe that all game developers should be required to use Creation Engine, or retailers will refuse to carry their products. This way, everyone can stop focusing on tech and just making game assets and story better.
4. Quests are extremely varied and involving.
Every major town is guaranteed to give you hours of entertainment. For example, it took me around 9 hours to completely finish the first starting town. There’s enough detail in each individual quest to feel immersive, enjoyable and most of all, important.
Skyrim is a more than a game... It's an experience. It's a way of time. There is no other piece of interactive media, today or in the past, that can even scratch the surface of Skyrim's depth. We are truly blessed, all of us, to be alive in a time when such things are being created. It transcends the bounds of humanity and things like socializing with other people, because it provides all of that to you right in your home. Bow down and thank Todd Howard and Bethesda for this.
