Topic: can we please not discuss the existance of God?
+Anonymous A — 12.5 years ago #32,838
I care about you people but when we argue about this subject is cause me great consternation.....and I do not wish for us to be strifeful towards one another.....as such a conversation will inevitably bring about..
let's just keep it easy...and free....ok..

I know.....cause it means something to me......it means nothing to you but yoiu feel like you need to be caustic about what you think on the subject.....and that is because you have a small inkling down deep that there could be something to this God thing..
but if it is gonna cause strife I hope we can just avoid the subject..

Overdosing on acetaminophen is a bad way to go. It's definitely not quick or painless. Talk to someone before you go to that step, and the doctor wasn't being serious about Domestos being autism medicine.

If God doesn't exist, your daddy is rotting in the ground.

It's been a few months. There's a difference but it's still shitty. I have an out if it gets too bad so it's safe. It's all good.

@previous (Triptych !IupsXZPnnU)
Well just knowing you have an out can be empowering but it shouldn't be the first line of defense when things get rough, that's for really dire times. Assuming we're talking about the same thing. Anyway a marginal improvement is better than nothing, at least things can improve you know. It's a lot easier to justify living than it is dying in any case. And there are plenty of awesome things in this life to justify hanging around a bit more. Give it a few more years, you might be surprised at how things turn out. Besides it sounds like you've got a lot going for you, man. You're in school, you've got a great boyfriend, you just got published in a minor publication, you're seeing a doctor about your metamorphosis IIRC, etc. I know things aren't easy, but they're not so bad either. Sometimes we make ourselves believe things are worse than they really are though.
“Thoughts are the shadows of our feelings --- always darker, emptier and simpler.”
― Friedrich Nietzsche

Externally, most things are good. It's just... internal. There's one feeling/image I had when it was fairly bad a couple months ago. My consciousness/sense of self/&c is this tiny shining pebble (compressed to that, a fraction of its normal self), and it's being encroached upon by this black substance crawling around my skull, expanding, swallowing all the light, and soon I'll be gone. That sounds kind of lame but it felt terrifying. It's not quite that bad any more but it's still not any good. I spent the weekend crying in bed.
That's a nice quote. Nietzsche. There's this Bukowski poem on my wall. It starts off
Doom like those large red lights
you suddenly see
in the overhead mirror
like Nietzsche
jacking off into a Miller's beercan
the doom comes
down
it does ---

@378,004 (Triptych !IupsXZPnnU)
Bukowski, Henry Miller, and Nietzsche. Some of my favorite people. :]
I think there's a lot of truth to what Nietsche said though.
And I know what you mean and internally is where the real war is fought for some people. IME dealing with depression, the worst thing is, those bad days where you let it take over, you don't get them back. You have to force yourself out into the world during those days. Sometimes it makes things seem less... bleak. Even if it's just a stroll in nature. Although being around people seems to help a great deal. Idk what your social support system is like but if you have some friends locally maybe spend a little more time with them. Learning to laugh at the absurdity of it all makes things infinitely more bearable too. Once the big cosmic joke is unveiled to you, you can either laugh or cry. I'd rather laugh. It seems silly but there is a power in it, laughter I mean. We take shit too seriously anyway and being a louse to yourself does fuckall anyway, so quit beating yourself up and laugh at the madness of it all.
Knowing that what's ailing you is mostly mental can make it easier to overcome. You're still in charge of your body, regardless of what you may think or feel at the time. Exercising also helps a lot. Lifting weights helped me a bit with my depression too. It's worth a shot, it doesn't matter where or how you start, just that you start. Another thing that was therapeutic was writing. I started in the middle of some pretty nasty withdrawals. It was mostly free writing but it was always cathartic and occasionally I would surprise myself with a little pearl here and there. Depression sucks, but it also can be a sort of fuel for creativity. It's just requires forcing yourself to pick up the pen, brush, or camera somedays. Maybe it's not even depression, maybe we suffer from the Underground man's "illness" of hyper consciousness. Still, I'd rather think too much than too little. Even if it leaves me a little scattered at times.

I don't really have many friends. I'm going to try to be more social but it's just... hard.
There's this lovely bridge nearby, all graffiti'd up with a stream below and a tiny building and many trees. It's good for smoking and photo but I always get scared at night and it's often worse at night.
I have a photography assignment (macro!) and 9 academic classes so busy. busy is good.

I know, it doesn't seem like the easiest thing in the world to connect with people... but it can be done. Although meeting people that have a mutual interest might make it a little easier. Having some more immediate common ground definitely facilitates things.
It sounds like a pleasant spot. Is the fear paranoia or just that overwhelming fear, sorta cosmic dread?
Macro is fun, it can make mundane things seem so much more interesting. Busy is a good thing but try and take a little time for yourself too when you can, it sounds like a pretty heavy workload, bud.
