I have few enough clothes that hanging them all up is feasible. But what would take the place?

Could move my laundry hamper and box and textbooks out there and then make my desk a den. that would be rad. a new mission!

you are to be commended for hanging your clothes up....so many people these days are sloppy and go about in wrinkled garments....me included...but not always..

the world adores a snappy dresser.....of course I am referring to you looking sharp and not the piece of furniture you mentioned..

I am not a total slob....I know that hanging stuff up makes it a lot more presentable than just throwing it in a heap in the corner..
