Marx hated liberals because they only put band-aides on problems. They don't solve fundamental problems of inequality, they just make it more palatable so the oppressed won't rise up.
Of course, speaking personally, it would be too much of a hassle to have to deal with sodomy laws in the 21st century. But if homosexuality was re-criminalized maybe some of these queens would get up off their asses and join the revolution.
