A anecdote about my elderly black patients. When they are cleaned, toileted, dressed, etc by black workers, many times they beat the workers about the head and chest while saying things like "Quit playing,girl" and "I'm going to knock the shit out of you". When I care for them, they are so nice and say things like "Thank you, thank you maam". White privilege.

Have any of them used racial slurs (not just nigger) toward the black workers and if so, how do they deal with it?
Do they just remain professional?

Well, the one who uses the most racial slurs is Fannie, and she says nigger and will call black workers by their skin tone. Like, "hey yellow Girl" or "Come here, Redbone" But she's black and schizophrenic, so the workers dont get offended, they just try to hush her up. At a different home, I was talking to an elderly white lady about her childhood. She was like ninety, and was talking about fun stuff that she would do as a kid. First she mentioned burning grass which tickled me for some reason) then she started talking about her pets. She had a horse. His name was nigger, because he was black. She said this very loudly, multiple times in front of black workers. everyone just got quiet and shook their heads. Surprisingly, most seem to take it very well.
Oh and sometimes residents will say things like "You know, the coloreds love their fried chicken/watermelon" or during a ball game "Those black fellows sure can run".

Do the workers take it well because they realize these people were from a more bigoted time?
