My girlfriend came off the pill so we could have a baby and she told her mother and brother about our plans but they freaked out. Telling her she is too young (24) and she needs to finish her degree first although she's in the last year already and then her PGC which she needs to become a teacher. Her mother keeps writing emails to her in an atempt to talk her out of it and her brother keeps sending her texts telling her to wait. I've told her to keep her family plans to herself, I mean... I haven't told my family or would I. It's nothing to do with them and I would only tell them when I was sure she was pregnant. They are a bunch of busy bodies.

If she's that close to getting her degree... what's the big deal with postponing it for a bit longer? It sounds like they're only trying to play it safe and suggest what's best for her in case things don't pan out between you two. The second income definitely wouldn't hurt a couple trying to start a new family either.

Sure she's nearly finished her degree. But maybe she should get some work experience first or get into a job so that she can go on a paid maternity leave and then have a job waiting when she gets back instead of having a kid and then trying to get a job.
