The American pronunciation of the word Aluminium or the British pronunciation of the word?

The metal wasn't even discovered by either an American or a Brit, it was apparently a Danish man.

The pronunciations likely came around at the same time.

The British one came on February 5th 1858 and the American one on September 28th 1864, so the British one was first.
