Cis is the opposite of trans.

But that that's too general and doesn't specify whatever needs to be specified.
In a transgender discussion it helps to specify rather you're referring to someone who was naturally born a girl or who "became" one surgically and hormonally.

I like to be proper when I type so I'm not going to automatically assume something that requires one to specify.

I am well aware of this, but considering how there are rumored to be quite a few male-to-female individuals on this board it surprised me to hear about a cis-girl posting here. If there was no prefix then it'll be too general in this case and it would include the trans folk.

Yes, females. Cis = natural born, Trans = hormones and surgeries.
It's only important to use the prefix when you're referring to the different types otherwise you are correct in saying females.
