I wouldn't say the Doc is hated. He's just laughed at a lot. He's pissed away 5 years of his life posting his little pictures morning to night. Even Matt Miller takes the occasional break.

Christopher Eccleston isn't widely hated though. Many still regard him as one of the best NuWho Doctors despite only having one season. Many of the hardcore Whovians dislike him because of his attitude toward the show and the fans, but even they still respect what he did for the character.
