Yes, I'm aware some of the more passionate gamers will get on my ass about how the PC is the master race and I won't disagree with them, but the one thing they always seem to misunderstand is that there are just some games made by developers who appear to have a complete dislike of personal computers. I am referring to companies such as Rockstar who has seem to be making it purposely tedious to install games for the PC or even just not releasing a PC edition. So with this in mind, I will still be in the market for a new console system.
During the last generation of Nintendos, I had a few factors that had me favor one specific console over the other.
Xbox 360:
- More mainstream.
- Already had 360 games to play.
PlayStation 3:
- Better library of games that isn't just shooters.
- Free online.
- Blu-Ray player
In the end I didn't really care which one I got for Christmas, but the 360 won me over just for reason two. The Indie games on the platform suck as it's all just Avatar games and Minecraft clones. I ended up getting a 360 (Slim, factory refurbished if I recall correctly).
Now in this new generation a lot of these factors are irrelevant as it's spread even.
Xbox One:
- Probably going to be more mainstream once again.
- Probably not a very good selection of indie or mainstream games.
- Now has a Blu-Ray player.
PlayStation 4:
- Has a Blue-Ray player.
- Probably going to have a better and more interesting array of indie and mainstream games.
- Cheaper online. $4 a month or if they only offer a one time fee $49.99 compared to their competitor's $5 a month and $59.99 one time fee.
As you can see it appears that my decision is just going to come down to which console has more games I'd want to play since online isn't going to be free for either console and they both come with Blu-Ray players. I must ask, will the PS4 still be able to stream video services (Netflix, YouTube, & Hulu) as well as music ones (last.fm & Pandora)? Having that functionality is still nice to have. Of course, a lot of the games I seek are not on PC, but ARE on consoles as multiplatform (e.g. WWE 2K and Rockstar Games).
So I feel as if I am pushing for a PS4 in the future, but just wanted to see what you all recommend first.
I also might as well as in this thread, what are good computer parts to get for a PC that can run games such as Tomb Raider, GTAIV/V, and The Sims 3 (with all dat bloat)?
I know constructing a PC is cheaper than actually buying an already made one, but I never built my own computer before so I have no idea what is best.
I'm not sure there will be much difference. It probably depends more on what your friends get
