Generally, people are less interested in locating a low-level 'threat' that is potentially dead, because a corpse is no longer of any consequence.

Bullshit, anyone of any major consequence or threat to him would want to see the body, not just give up because of a post on tumblr saying "So long everybody, I'm dead now!". They'd also want direct access to any of his writings that he had potentially left behind. God damn, I'm talking like people were actually after the crazy old coot.
