Doc was having a bad time with his loneliness and asked the forum for help. Some guy helped him out and became, as Doc called it, "a true friend". He then spent the next few weeks thanking him and saying he'd always be there for him. The guy who helped him never came back though, it seems he just used boards casually, not to find online friends.
It was shortly after that the Doc became the very angry and easily-riled person he is today. It hit him bad, losing his "new friend" like that. After this, he pretty much just gave up on life.
