Some retards and cripples are painting pictures and putting them on christmas cards. They hold paint brushes in their mouths and feet and shit. They've sent me some cards and are asking for $18.50 or to return the cards.

I get that they are not begging, and are trying to help themselves out etc but the people that get the card don't know that, they just get a shitty card with an ugly picture. I wouldn't have picked these out myself, but they came with envelopes and I guess I'll use them.

Fuck 'em. They send you junkmail as a gift and anticipate you'll pay them for it by trying to tug at your heartstrings? Nah. Keep the envelopes and return them whatever other junkmail will fit in their return envelope assuming the postage is pre-paid. If not, it goes in with the rest of the trash. Most charities and non-profits are bullshit anyway so you want to be fairly selective and/or donate to local groups where you can actually help enrich your community.

Those are both valid points, but I do reserve a space in my sentiments for weaklings when downtrodden in the dead of winter. I think it is an extension of that desire to assuage the vulnerability for which I was never tended to by others. Christmas was never an ideological holiday for most in the post-war period, and as a pomobabblist I thought you would've understood this.

And unfortunately for legitimate charities there's more and more scams parading as legit charities. There's nothing wrong with altruism but I feel like it's better to give tangible goods or foodstuff to missions or directly to the homeless or impoverished. Plus the warm fuzzies are more gratifying than sending cash by mail to what you think may be a good cause. Or even volunteer some of your time to a charity or non-profit.

I could only visit and spend a few days at the beach - Spent more tymes in the mountains - I was inland in Dubbo for a solid 6 months and that is just inside the outback of NSW.

It depends on the who is panhandling. Most of the time a lot of homeless people just want to be treated like human beings. Giving them a cigarette, change for a cup of coffee, and a couple bucks won't change their situation but who knows. Besides they occasionally have interesting stories.
