Yeah I think it's because you are a girl.
I find it to be like walking up to a group of guys, and trying to make friends within a couple of minutes without talking. I don't know what the online etiquette is but I think it's pretty much You shut the hell up, I'll shut the hell up. Any talking either gets a whole bunch of button clickers replying, some mic blowers and whistlers. It's just a deathmatch played in silence mostly.
We need to game together more often and race jetskis again etc
