In theory they may be able to eat cheese while absorbing/siphoning soul energy but it is not to say they can eat a soul with cheese, such low brow speculation only comes from a fundamental misunderstanding of the subject at hand.

(I admit I have gone along with this silly rumor quite often) The fact that we don't have souls creates a sort of "illusion" to anyone who has a soul and this makes it look like we are actually a sort of vacuum type creature that takes what we lack.
The truth is, we don't have souls, nor can we acquire them in any way. However, we can scare people shitless and cause them to think they just lost their soul from being around a "vacuum", or a black hole for souls.
