Topic: I spent 3 hours messing around with the washing machine

+Gavin !!I8orsyAAN12.9 years ago #27,210

I found £4.50 worth of change in the filter alongside some collar stays.
Still didn't work.

I took the pump out and apart.
Still didn't work

I tried to flush any more crap out the pipes.
I found £0.10p

Drum still wasn't turning.

I give the drum a quick hand starting up and it seems to work.
I walk in 5 minutes later.
Sparks are flying out the back and my electricity is gone.

I checked the motor and the brushes and they are visibly fine -
However I suspect sparks flying out the back means they're dead.

Now my washing machine is on the side of the road waiting for the rag n bone men -
The new washing machine was expensive - £450.

At least I can use the £4.60 from the filter of the last one to soften the blow.

Gavin just how many years old was that machine? ducky can testify that even vibrators wear out.

One day your body will wear out but I doubt anyone going to find spare change in your body parts.

Send me clean clothes to wear. Something sexy.

@319,558 (Syntax )
I can't remember. I think it might have been 4 years old ... or 2 years old.
It wasn't a top brand my friend! Cheap Chinese wares sold in the EU at high prices!
Ducky can't testify to vibrators running out ... only getting stolen.

Damn these days Refrigerators last forever except I have had to replace a gasket recently. And yes now I remember. ducky stole her mothers vib or was it the other way around?

ducky recently had a replacement for such device but tossed that to the curb n seems to be in restart mode. Will wait till she says sparks are flying out of her backside.

Washing machines are only designed to last 800 cycles in the UK - those evil corporations man!
And yes Ducky's mother according to the story ... broke into her locked cupboard with a crowbar to get at the mythical dildo she'd heard rumours of.

> Will wait till she says sparks are flying out of her backside.
I'd happily go in there searching for change ...

800 cycles LoL -

I am super good at what I do for a living but not so much so good on Mechanical stuff. I needed to get Robots out of my system so I decided to get a consulting gig in the Robotics biz.

Rote myself up as a Robotics consultant - In theory I do have the background except no Hydraulics or any of the Air pressure n Vacuum systems technology so I did not put any of that on my ginned up Resume.

Well I got the Gig as head of a design group for a new Robot. Thing is I ended up working in the belly of that beast for 6 months 7 days a week. I poured sweat out on that machine daily.

I new I was not so much a good mechanic. Man I really really found out how bad. Non of my mates or management had a clue How much I was hurting on that Gig. Payed a huge fortune -

The day they asked me to renew my 6 month contract I said let me get back to you. On my messages an offer from Swiss Ericsson and Pac Bell to move to Sweden and end up in Cell biz.

Learned my lesson to not work on or fix mechanical shit. Back as kiddlet I did work on my first car and did ok. Odd how often I had left over parts when I put something back together. Odd the car worked but with the Robot not so much.

You had stuff besides screws left over? That's pretty bad.

When did you buy that refrigerator?

If somehow it works, then that's actually not bad.

I meant as far as his memory goes. If you don't remember to put everything back, then you shouldn't work on other people's stuff. Most cases, the worst that can happen is the equipment gets ruined, but with industrial machinery or vehicles, a mistake could seriously injure one or more people.

Shims yea shims. Pesky bits of metal here n there. Washers of course. Given it was a prototype never to be sold - And I did finish that project and took the monster to a Robotics show in Japan.

It was more a concept Robot. I was asked to cum up with something that wood catch the attention of a crowd - So and remember I did have a team of Engineers etc on this project. I decided to see if it could break a large piece of glass with a sharp tool and then have that same Robot put that glass all back together on a flat horizontal panel - It was broken when in a vertical position and all the broken glass was self contained.

So really a jig saw puzzle on the fly. Worked real real impressive. Little cups with vacuum that did a search n seek and place down - So optics n image software rocked. Well tiny gaps here and there re limits of pick up and the image capture of break up.

That frig is a back up in garage and its maybe 6 years old. As the back up I bought the 2nd from least expensive at Sears. So I am not surprised.

AND AND few may see this happen these days. I had a friend who worked in a GM assembly plant. His job was to be at end of assembly line and fix this or that which was not up to standards.

He said it was common to toss in a few screws under the dashboard for quick put in place where needed. So back when I bought new cars I did find screws on floorboards on occasion. My BMW's have yet to have this happen. Back when I owned Porsche's I did find a washer now and then on floorboard. On my Alpha it was expected on every repair to find stuff falling out-off.

I'd expect that mistake from someone a quarter your age, but you should know better.

I got my new washing machine today.

It's an 8kg model - I can wash all my soiled underwear at once!
It is A+++ energy rated by the EuroMaster Union -

Man the environment loves me and now my clothes are clean again.
I had to undo 5 huge 6 inch bolts though used in transportation - that made me sweat!
But now my sweaty shirt is washing 8)
