Also I might point out that a super nova os the collapse of a star, you don't expand into a supernova. You expand into a giant, then collapse into a supernova, but only if the star is large enough, the sun is not.

Thw sun will slowly puff off layer after layer after it's expansion to a giant, and eventually it will be left as a white dwarf.
It's called a planetary nebula.

I doubt it will even go nova becuase I think you need a binary twin gone giant leaking an accretion disk onto the white dwarf partner to get a nova.

It'll be pretty, but not very explosive.

A supernova is the most energetic explosion in the universe, and is a whole other animal. Thanks.
