Well known is a stretch. "A published pulp scifi writer" would be more accurate. Not even a good one, he couldn't keep his stories coherent. The first two parts of Battlefield Earth are actually OK pulp, but the last section is retarded on a level of space 727s or whichever plane Xenu was brought to earth on.

Yea I fully agree. Back when I read a lot of Si Fi I tried a couple of his pulp stories and gave up on him. Met him once in the mid 70's and never had a clue why the lunch meeting was set up.
