Joyent is trying to jew me. Guess they aren't happy with people like me using their services only for load balancing.
Similarly, on August 1, 2013, we published our on-demand bandwidth billing. You can find the bandwidth pricing schedule here. All inbound bandwidth is free, and outbound bandwidth is free up to 1GB/month for compute and storage services.
As a courtesy, we will not begin applying your bandwidth usage until September 1, 2013, billable the first week of October. Your bandwidth charges for the month of July would have been approximately $202.72. This notification serves to give you an estimate into the your future bandwidth fee if your outbound bandwidth remains steady. If you have any questions about this change, or would like to work on ways to optimize your bill and architecture, please reach out to your account manager or contact sales@joyent.com to take advantage of our new instance pricing, reserve pricing and additional tools available to you.

Did you get in on the Lifetime Free for ever? For those not in the No - Lifetime turned out to be Dead Except someone filed a class action lawsuit recently
In any case IF you did then check out Text Drive. Co founders of Text Drive Joyent split a while back and one of them re-launched Text Drive and they have a plan under $20/month that you should look in2
Text Drive as a mission statement wants to be an alternative to Dreamhost.
