this happened in toronto :( some kid was in an empty bus with a knife, a cop shot him multiple times, and the parents thanked them....

Much more likely to miss an arm or a leg, if the cop had good reason to believe his life was in danger (ie this kid was coming at him with the knife) then aiming for the body makes it much less likely that he'll miss and get stabbed.
