Topic: Pro-religious bullcrap on british TV

+Anonymous A13.1 years ago #25,083

Lately, I noticed increased number of religious propaganda present on british tv, what is going on? Apart from "Very British Ramadan" on Channel 4, overall information present during weather news about sunrise and sunset with regards to ongoing Ramadan BBC's Sunday Morning Live today was a cherry on the top.

It started with a discussion about whether Muslims are being demonized, followed by a footage about religious pilgrimages (Vatican, Mecca etc).

Catholic Church has blood on its hands, they are partially responsible for hundreds of thousands of people dying of AIDS. Vatican's message is loud and clear when it comes to the use of condoms and developing Christian countries have the highest rates of HIV/AIDS because of anti condom campaign. Why isn't BBC talking about that instead of showing smiling Pope cruising in his papa mobile and thousands of indoctrinated fools crying and waiving to him like 13 year old girls at Justin Bieber's concert?

With regards to discussion about demonizing Muslims I personally feel the whole thing was biased, it started with a mini documentary done by Mehdi Hasan, he's a UK Huffington Post's political director and a Muslim. He called for the end of violence against Muslims and this message of course I agree with, violence, mosque bombings need to end, this is disgusting and should be condemned loud and clearly. As the discussion progressed another journalist who was suppose to point out why Muslim society is not very liked was barely allowed to speak. They had a woman on the phone who spent decades working for a charity helping Muslim women escape forced marriages, they let her speak for 5 minutes, disconnected her, afterwards Hasan laughed the whole thing off claiming it was a load of nonsense.

They ran the poll during the show asking whether Muslims in UK were being demonized and about 25% said yes, 75% said no.

The thing is that when you criticize Catholic Church or Christianity most people agree or they don't say anything, criticize Islam and you're straight away Islamophobic. It seems there are two biased camps in UK, one are the likes of The Sun and Daily Mail which incite public hatred towards Muslims with their manipulative articles about "our" school children being forced to consume halal meat in schools; and the other are the likes of BBC who subtly try to promote Islam as a misunderstood religion of peace but there is a lot of things they are scared to touch - such as misogyny, one of the speakers was actually reprimanded for mentioning Lee Rigby (because the case was still ongoing). Are you kidding me?
