The Ex-Cop Cab Co.
The problem: Cab drivers face danger in their line of work, as they are being paid to transport large volumes of complete strangers of varying temperaments on a daily basis with no prior security check. Cops also face danger and people who are generally not happy to see them on a daily basis. Cops careers can be cut short even by non-fatal injuries which prevent them from being able to perform in the line of duty. Most people who become cops do so because they want to work with the the people in their community, and being resigned to a desk job because of an injury that impairs their field performance can lead to depression. It's a waste to have these people go through the training that they do and then not use it.

Solution: As long as these people can operate a motor vehicle, let them operate taxi-cabs. Having gone through police academy training, they already have developed an acute sense of evaluating someone at-a-glance. As cops they are not only taught to be particularly mindful of traffic laws, but also have training on safe driving at high speeds. Should a situation arise where their passenger poses a threat to them, their defensive and offensive training provides them an advantage to subduing and surviving an attack. Their knowledge of what details police look for when identifying someone means they will be able to provide better descriptions in cases of an attacker escaping.
