What is your favorite music album and movie?

feelsbadman.pngThere's too many great albums for me to narrow it all down to my one favorite. If you specified a favorite album by a certain band, I could manage that.

I don't really compare movies since they usually fall into one of these catergories:
> Based on a book (which I haven't read).*
> An event that happened before I was born so I only know about it from a short summary in a history book.~
> Comic book character that my knowledge of ranges from 'casually familiar' to 'might have heard their name mentioned somewhere'.
> Social documentary/commentary (An Inconvenient Truth, Waiting for Superman)
> Sports films (I don't have much interest in sports, but the movies tend to be feel-good stories so it's not boring.)
> Some family movie my mom picks out based on the rating it got and a brief description in the paper.
> Sequels to some movie we've previously seen.^
> Remakes of old movies where I haven't actually seen the original.

*The exception being Harry Potter 1-3. By 4 my sister was old enough to drive and wanted to see it with her friends instead of family; I could take it or leave it since I'd moved on from pottermania; my dad had read the books and that was good enough for him; and my mom can't generally enjoy anything live-action that involves elements of fantasy because she inherited her mom's habit of analyzing everything from a reality-based perspective.

~Except Zero Dark Thirty, but that was all about behind-the-scenes stuff anyway.

^Although I haven't seen Taken, I had wanted to when it came out so we did see Taken 2. My dad also to me to one of the middle Bourne movies, but we had horrible seats so we were both on the verge of motion sickness by the end. We also saw Bourne Legacy which was exponentially better by the factor of the seating alone. But then, Bourne is based on a series of novels which is the first category anyway.

I've also discovered fairly recently that I apparently have either bad or no taste when it comes to movies, as I enjoyed 7 Psychopaths when even our Chinese exchange student thought it was dumb.

tv-with-magnifying-glass.jpgYou could get your best seat in house (home) and view Bourne from #1 to end

Best viewed on a large TV screen.

It amazes me how backward things sometimes move in Technology. When I was a kid TV screens started out 5 - 7 Inch's and although my family moved on quickly as screens became larger - 12 came out quickly - Friends actually bought wot you see in photo - a huge thick Magnifying glass with stand.

Yet lots of people 2day are watching a full movie on a 7 Inch screen.

The more things change the more they CAN REMAIN THE SAME

I never understood why people rave about HD and 1280p but then handheld devices are becoming the main means to consume media. It used to be a TV was just a TV, and when you could turn it into a video game system or computer it was like some sort of wizardry. Now we expect our phones to to be able to play games and browse the internet and take photos and wipe our ass and so on. Of course, now we have to deal with fixing these devices when something causes an error because they tried to cram so many different functions into it that they didn't spend enough time making sure the embedded software was rock solid for any purpose. And the excess amounts of RAM we use leads to bad programming practice where someone forgets to handle garbage collection properly because they aren't worried about their one single program eating up 2GB of memory because 'hey, we've got 6 more gigs still!'. Like nobody ever multitasks or has a less-that-brand-new machine.

Yea and every word you rote is 100% accurate.

I am so very closely tied to a company that goes out of their way to EXPLOIT every word you rote. At this very instant its sitting with $13.49 Billion in COLD HARD CASH. When I go to weekly meetings I smile as one head of this or that software group brags about the next gen chips that will do even more to provide the market with Glitz n Glamor.

Once upon a tyme Engineers over Engineered to the Max and then some Manager wood come along and say the Market does not need that. Now its give them more more more so a phone maker will be forced to buy it for all the numbers to excite the customer - AS IF THE Customer has a clue wot to do with the last version

Hey I am on the end that Cees it as filling my Wallet - But looking at the current mess - Its kinda silly.

So of course this game is simple

Currently all live in fear of the Next Version of I Phone - So everyone is rushing to Embarrass WOT comes next.

I must admit that with Google driving Cell n Tablets to end up as Robots which is wot I see in Labs all over the Campus of Unnamed company - Robots but without arms or Legs currently - Its fucking freaky.

The only thing I fear about the release of an iphone is the mad dash of every other maker to one-up it in this ever-escalating consumerist insanity.

A phone is for talking.
An mp3 player is for music.
A TV is for shows and movies.
A camera is for taking pictures or video.
An actual, full-fledged hardware computer is the only electronic device that should have email and facebook and youtube and stuff. Computers were designed to be extensible, multi-function machines. Phones are too small to be useful as such.

NOT that I disagree. Its just Sad to see the poor far away pic CNN is running of the only (so far) shot of the Asian 777 Landing - NO Runway cameras - Imagine that. Cell phone video - Sad but better then nada

However those Qualcomm Snapdragon chips and others keep putting serious money in my wallet - And of course Qualcomm got my Globalstar work going albeit they bailed years ago. They still make phones for the Satellite system.

I get to see various versions of the future and not even the lab managers have a clue wot will end up in the Market. At least people working in offices doing real work still use real computers.
