Seriously though, tobacco is not worse than heroin. That comes from a pure statistical calculation of the failure rates, where smoking ends up with a similar or worse failure rate than heroin because it's socially accepted.

However, that study considered several factors, both personal impact and cost to society. So for example, cannabis might be worse than alcohol to you personally, but rank lower on that scale because less people use it, so it's less of a burden to society. I have not read that study in detail, so I couldn't tell you the details on that.
