Topic: Why are def people treated like retards
+morbid !Xnp/V/hD1o — 13.4 years ago #21,405
I work with a def gentleman - correction: he's not even fully def - and everyone talks to him with slow, childish demeanor, as if he was fucking retarded. I talk to him like a normal person and he always understands me and communicates back with no issue. You wouldn't even know he's partially def if no one told you. Except for the fact that everyone always tells everyone that he's def, as if he was some sort of retard who needs to be avoided at all costs. The nerve of some people.

I would probably mess with him to break up the boredom of work. I pull all sorts of stupid shit on workmates, and they aren't even easy targets like a deaf dude is.

I've walked in on a deaf person peeing more times than I can count.

Where I work, the lock always seems to be broken and they cant hear you knock.

I always have to stop and wonder what the circumstances are under which a stall lock becomes broken.

In case of emergency, break stall lock?
·Anonymous D — 13.4 years ago, 32 seconds later, 12 hours after the original post[T] [B] #258,567
@258,565 (FuckAlms !vX8K53rFBI)
I've seen many situations in bars where drunk people don't understand why the door won't open so they shove really hard. I think one of the funniest moments was when this very large man pushed on it and the door went forward and smacked the guy taking a shit right in the face. That would fuck up anyone's day.

At the home, the bathrooms are weird places. People will flush gloves and shit, and I've had to stick my hand into dirty toilet water many a time. I call that retirement home fear factor.

You must have good skills at suppressing your gag reflex.

Bodily functions, fluids, or squick does not affect me. I never gag.
Also, you set that one up for him! lol

It's not a skill then, it's a talent.
Also, yeah I did.

Whats the difference?
·Anonymous F — 13.4 years ago, 6 minutes later, 13 hours after the original post[T] [B] #258,579
@previous (kook !!u4KQvs2JM)
I think a talent is natural ability, or something you are good at straight away.

Okay thats true. Some skills I have learned, like changing an occupied bed, or dodging fists to the face while removing a brief.

Not getting hit in the face while removing a brief, is a skill your rapist friend has yet to master.

Sometimes the lady residents will act like they're being sexually attacked when you're changing them, and the men act upset like some strange woman is trying to blow them. Like "Oh, hey now. Knock this stuff off".
