I've been thinking about this a lot lately... As long as there is life, there will be suffering. Terrible, disgusting things happen every day, and as long as life as around, it will never go away. I've heard "You can't have good without bad." before, and it makes sense. How can you appreciate the beauty in the world without the contrast of ugliness (I'm not talking in a superficial sense btw). But is it really worth it? Yeah its great to be able to sit down and appreciate love, music entertainment, history, etc and think about how lucky you are to have it good, but is that worth all the suffering? Is it okay for millions of people in poverty, being raped, tortured, killed, families torn apart, blown up, babies left to die, all so us more fortunate people can appreciate the fact that we're not in their shoes? I've always tried to ignore all that because theres nothing I can do about it, and deluding myself has been the only way of keeping my sanity.
If you had the choice to nuke the entire planet and end suffering once and for all, would you? I used to think I would, but I don't know. Its just such a big decision. What gives me the authority to make that kind of decision? What if I was wrong? what if there was something I overlooked? The fact that I'm unsure forces me into being apathetic about the whole thing. We're all going to die. Theres no point in living, theres no point in dying. I don't know what I would do if I had the chance to end humanity. Theres no going back after that.

Yes, although nuking would not be my method. I would rather use a virus or pathogen that is specifically lethal to humans. After all, humans are the only creatures who hold the power to save or destroy this planet within their hands. There's no need to slaughter lesser beasts in the process of human extermination.
