@OP
YES, if you use it like a proxy. If you're using it to look at CP sites you should expect a visit from the partyvan.

Tor is the navytrap - partyvan
I use it for a proxy too, usually for a US ip address. There's a prog that lets you build your own circuits, favourite all the fastest nodes, choose exit node by country, and only make two hops.

Using a non-standard number of hops makes you more identifiable!
The more you know!

I think anon C is only using it for lightweight stuff like Hulu or random trolling, not sharing cp.

Fair enough.
I use it to spread nude pictures of the Royal Family which is punished by death in the UK.
Down with the monarchy!

only safe if you create a virtual machine and transparently route every single connection through tor on the host side. ask me for an iptables script later.

TOR is relatively safe. Use the browser bundle and disable JavaScript. Enjoy your mail-order drugs.

How many safety measures are enough? (I'm thinking 100% safety is unreachable). I'm not very knowledgeable about the more intricate aspects of computers/software, though I'm sure I could learn if I immersed myself (but I don't have the urge, motivation, or time for that, yet). The Tails program mentioned seems relatively user-friendly. Is Tails enough?
What if I actually want to download something? How can I do that safely?
