I purchased the game bundle with season, the in the order confirm email it included a key for claiming that costume pack but require me to go reg yet another fucking account on EA's thesims site. I dunno either maybe it is only for those whole purchase the Season as bundle but not as standalone.

IS THIS TRUE...i am glad i got annoyed with origin asking me to accept their terms every time i turned my computer on so i stopped using it. i hate origin anyway for not working on macs till last month. steam is good enough

If you purchase online you'll need origin, you have to find friends vial origin names ingame, so I think it is mandatory.
Unless some hero do the justice and pirate the server side software
