Topic: Is affirmative action as harmful as racism?

To me, racism of any kind is wrong. But in today's political climate, affirmative action is seen as "good" racism. How do those on the political left reconcile this contradiction?

Easy. The goal is no longer equal treatment, but equal opportunity.

But then it's no longer equal opportunity. If a black student and a white student both score the same on a college entrance exam, but the black student is admitted because of affirmative action, it has made the opportunity to get into college decidedly
unequal.

That argument implies that the opportunity without affirmative action is equal. Do you think it is?

If it's an objective, standards based thing then yes. Both students took the same test and had the same chance to succeed or fail.

Affirmative action is grate. As are poverty traps and crack cocaine. The white man loves his ethnic comrades and wants them to excel in life.
