It's more of a sedative so I would advise against it. It's grate for suicide though.
It's pretty easy to get a script for a benzo or beta blockers. Based on what you want to do I'd strongly suggest the latter. Propranolol works really well for this and it doesn't really make you loopy like most benzos will.
