Topic: How was slavery different from Marxism?
+Anonymous A — 13.5 years ago #19,736
Slaves worked according to their ability, and they were given according to their need to survive.
Don't try telling me that communism is voluntary while slavery isn't. Tell the people in Cuba and North Korea that it's voluntary.

Indeed. It must suck when you are so fucking brainwashed that you
run into the ocean when your leader leaves your shores. ·Thed Octor !eqV35U3yE. — 13.5 years ago, 20 seconds later, 13 minutes after the original post[T] [B] #241,489

To be more specific,
Any kind of involuntary labor can be considered a form of slavery (or something extremely similar to slavery, if the term "slavery" is to be reserved for chattel slavery, e.g. the kind that was common in South Carolina or Dahomey or Haiti in the 18th century), whether it's a gulag in Russia 80 years ago, an estate with serfs in France 800 years ago, or an army with conscription (e.g. in Norway) 8 years ago (or today for that matter).
Marxism makes everyone slaves of the state.

> involuntary
This does not exist in Marxism. I though you understand.

True Marxism has yet to be implemented. You're referring to Cuba and NK's military dictatorship, similar to the former Soviet Union renamed Russian Federation.
