I have a friend who has an incredible paid internship at a design company. She WAS going to be guaranteed a full time spot after graduation (this May). For some reason, she cannot get her shit together and stop drinking til who knows when on weeknights. She oversleeps and abuses her relationship with a friend that works there, thinking he will let her off no matter what when she doesn't show up. Well guess what! She's getting fired (I'm friends with the friend at the company as well) and will soon feel the pain of all recent graduates trying to find good jobs - which she COULD have avoided. WELL yes, you are correct. She may have a problem, but none of her friends or family has acknowledged this as so. Neither has she. So I'm not entirely sure if she actually is an alcoholic or not, she has never said anything about having an issue. She hangs out with friends every single day until the middle of the night, and they collectively drink all night long. So it's kind of weird.

They probably enable each other. What's sad is she's throwing away a decent opportunity and shirking her responsibilities.
Unfortunately, some people need to hit rock bottom so they can get control of their lives. Sometimes it's unavoidable since they're of legal age but still are on a childish maturity level.

At least there are still chances for redemption. Hope your friend can get off the booze before it irreversibly does physical damage. It's really shitty to see someone slowly kill themselves with these kinds of things.
