My flatmate keeps rats. He has two male rats in a cage together and he only feeds them vegetables and fruit and nuts and shit. They are placid and fat, smelly, boring little fuckers.

He doesn't feed them meat because it makes them fight and attack each other.

I feed them meat when he's not around, they go crazy for it. They really like chicken. They will fight hard and spend a lot of energy for the tiniest piece.

I picture you as a slow moving, gluten free, chocolate cake face stuffing, vegetarian rat. Go eat some meat faggot.

I did not eat meat for the first 18 years of my life. I was a vegetarian from the age of 0 - 18.
I then decided I would try the murder I abstained from.

A friend made a steak, a porkchop, a sausage, and some bacon.
They were unimpressive. I was unhappy.
The meat eaters told me for years these things were amazing and they were boring.
Bacon just tasted like vegan bacon so that was ok.

Of course the rat would enjoy a unique taste and food.
I bet he doesn't vary the fruits and vegetables too much.

But for a human who can cook with the knowledge of flavour meat is just another bland ingredient.
I can live without it when I combine great vegetables.

Your picture of me is incorrect.
I am a big strong vegan male who has considered joining paramilitary vegan terrorist organisation to fight man, but, currently is using his mental and physical strength to explore buddhism.

Nuts and raisins won't get you very far. You are weak and placid, good luck with the buddhism

> Nuts and raisins

Sir if you were following my Vegan Soups thread you would know I provide tasty, nutritional and protein laden foods to my body.
I am a healthy man who has got a bit chubby.

Yes, cake is vegetarian. So are cookies and sweets. Do you find that you are out of energy and sit on your fat ass at all times possible? Take the carrot out of said ass and eat it. Thanks

·Gavin !!KyvSN1WTu13.5 years ago, 2 minutes later, 20 minutes after the original post[T] [B] #238,343

Only cake I ate was Vegan cake with blended tofu chocolate cream.
No I'm not out of energy. I sleep little and spent the last week doing 8 hours a day in my garden.
Then I came in and internetted all night.

You've just got to accept being Vegan isn't hard and it isn't bad for you.

Cheetos aren't big in the UK. Never seen them.
And pretty much all soft drinks are now since they're 0 calorie flavoured carbonated water.
Well, the "zero" versions are.

But it is good!
I hope you have a nice day!

Diet pop has nothing in but carbonated water and flavourings.

I personally drink carbonated water mixed with peach juice at 1% peach juice, 99% water.

How big is your garden? Must be huge if spring prep takes 40hrs. Do you start from seeds?

It's not that huge, about 30 long, 12 metres wide.

But it's more that I had to do a lot of landscaping.
I had a huge pond last year which I had to get rid of so I had a swimming pool sized hole in the ground to offset.
So I had to convert the slope of the garden into more of a series of square tiers.

But yeah I do go for seeds on everything apart from onions really.
But the weather is fucked atm in the UK. It's way too cold and we're getting frost so it's fucking up my soil >:(

I get the picture. That's a big job! Are you using timbers or stone for your tiering? Also, do you compost?

·Omen !!hnQvReR0M13.5 years ago, 7 minutes later, 57 minutes after the original post[T] [B] #238,380

@238,373 (A)
I don't know any vegans personally but the only difference in diet seems to be a lack of meat based proteins. I'm sure there are comparable products to fill that requirement.

I had a load of decking wood from a while ago when I made a deck.
So 12 foot long planks about an inch deep; I'm just using them as the border.
They should be strong enough. I was going to use them to make plant beds but meh.

I don't compost at the moment.
The local council here takes all the compostable stuff in a bin and composts it.
Then I can buy the compost cheaply so it's nice and easy.

Is it wood or composit decking? Wood, even if treated, will rot rather quickly. Did you stake your planks?

I do this for a living, so if you have any questions ask away.

That does sound better than doing it yourself! Real pain in the neck to do it properly.

·Gavin !!KyvSN1WTu13.5 years ago, 4 minutes later, 1 hour after the original post[T] [B] #238,392

@238,385 (Omen !!hnQvReR0M)
Just wood treated with the generic decking protection stuff.
Yeah I used some pretty hefty stakes, I converted a couple of old thick bedposts into a series of stakes to use :x
( Although they're probably not particularly well done )
As long as it lasts a few years I don't mind.

Awesome man! I would love to do it for a living but I don't know enough rich people with big gardens that need me.
I may ask in the future. I was going to do outside hydroponics this year as well but money money money.

My mother had a compost heap and she put all the activator in and that.
I went to see if there was any compost in it and the shredded paper and egg shells looked like new, had to put it in bags and chuck it :|
After that experience I thought better not to.

Damn, I was afraid of that. The pressure treated lumber contains arsenic and all manner of unhealthy additives that may leech into your ground water and be absorbed by the plants. Better check with the manufacturer and see what they used to make it rot resistant.

I respect your willpower, Gavin.

·Gavin !!KyvSN1WTu13.5 years ago, 7 minutes later, 13 hours after the original post[T] [B] #238,767

@238,737 (Omen !!hnQvReR0M)
Oh no I treated them myself :o
They came untreated (edit : i think) and I treated it with "cuprinol" if you have it where you are.
Looking at the site most of them say they're safe near plants and pets when dry ... so I take it to mean no arsenic.
