Space travel is consistently portrayed incorrectly in Doctor Who. Since the futuristic technology in Doctor Who mostly pertains to this incorrect portrayal of space travel, the technology itself is incorrect. Time travel is incorrectly portrayed because it is shown as being possible.

We don't know if time travel is possible, we don't know if aliens exist, we know nothing of alien technology, we haven't visited many other universes, or planets. Damn, you're making this too easy. Sci-Fi and Science Fiction are too different genres. Sci-Fi deals with make believe bullshit, while Science Fiction applies real science in a fictitious story.
