They've nullified the 1953 armistice and are not answering their red phone. They're deranged if they think they can end anything they start.
It is somewhat worrisome though.

It's basically another term for direct communication lines between nation leaders.

I got this. I hired a slew of former n soon to be former Army Rangers who did one hell of a job in Afghanistan and that was a mission accomplished and yes it took 10 years and that was back in the 80's. But eye r confident they can get the job done RE: North Korea

They've done the exact same thing in the past for the exact same reasons. Minus the nukes, but they're not really a threat. And if they use them they lose their only bargaining point. The other times they've done it they've had a real economy, though.
The famine must be getting pretty bad for them to be doing this.

I don't think it really is more serious in terms of serious risk of an actual war. Rather, it's more of a calculated tantrum for show, than real anger on their part. It's more of a tantrum, because they want more attention this time. At any rate, it's mostly still a lever to get more grocery handouts. I would say it's not possible for them to really be that pissed over a joint exercise, which happens every fucking year in the USA and ROK joint exercise in front of them. So I think it's probably more a sign of increasing material desperation on their part.

Can't into cult of personality without an enemy.

What's really amusing is that they rip the phoneline out of the fucking wall and then send Dennis Rodman back to the USA to say "Call us and we'll chat". Fucking idiots.
