Topic: My father is probably going to die.

+Postmortem !!QyjvQmlKq13.5 years ago #19,087

Okay, so I'm in the emergency center because my Dad had a heart attack, this is number 3 for him. Yikes!

+On !Uvm54ORbmo13.5 years ago, 43 seconds later[T] [B] #233,607

How do you feel now?

+Anonymous C13.5 years ago, 37 seconds later, 1 minute after the original post[T] [B] #233,608

Does he smoke, drink, have a history of heart disease or have an unhealthy diet?

Okay, I'm having to reassure my mom, and my sister, and my mom is all out of sorts so I'm having to take charge a bit, but I'm fine.

@previous (C)
Yes, all of those. He's had 2 heart attacks before this, he smokes, and eats unhealthily, lots of caffeine for example. His Dad died of a heart attack, so did his grandfather.

No worries. Modern medicine has heart replacement everything or even a Kosher Pig valve. On the other hand with the past two, and if he kept on smoking? Perhaps he wants to commit suicide by bad habits?

I mean if he wants to go is is ok with you?

Yea I can be at tymes but I was in this case with my reply not trying to be such.

Odds are in total favor of Docs patching him up and consider that Docs like buying new boats and 3rd homes. He is of no value if he dies. He is worth a small fortune when they get him to live.

Web says
What are the odds on surviving a 3rd heart attack?

Answer:
It all depends upon the severity of the injury. If it is a mild infarction, and relatively little cardiac muscle is affected, then the odds are quite good. If it is a massive myocardial infarction, then the odds would be quite poor.

Do not read beyond this if you are not willing to read what could hurt

Few seconds! I think you have wrongly typed the question. By third attack person will die.

Author: Uttam Yadav 26 Apr 2011
There is no guarantee of a person's life after the third attack. It is rare that anyone can survive the third attack. Even if a person survives the third attack, he will always be at the risk of heart-failure any second in his life post his third-attack.

My grandfather was lucky enough to survive for 9 years after his third attack. He had his third attack in 1992 and passed away in 2001. His doctor had told, even if he survived, he will always be at a risk of heart failure. When he died, he was having his lunch normally. Put a morsel in his mouth and just left in that same sitting posture.

---------------------------------------------------------------
Yet I KNOW a number of people men and women who made it past the three and are still doing just fine - Of course they will die as we all will one day

> I'm not mad at you nor do I really think you're being mean.

Most excellent because I was home the day my dad had his first and I sure damn well know #3 does not mean the end. He did not smoke but then again my mom did and that 2nd hand smoke effected my lungs. Found out after a mountain climb to over 20,000 feet with exam that the damage to my lungs was what it was. So it could be that my dad living with mom so much longer ended up much like a smoker.

He was overweight but diet was basically ok except a Jewish diet like eating chicken fat is not so good. After#1 I got him to switch doctors and WE got him to start walking every day and cut out the bad fats.

Weight dropped way down. #2 &3 were genetic related to clogging of pipes which is my family trait. My pipes were clogged as well when checked nor did I want the slice n dice dad had so I hit the books at UCLA Med library and changed diet and hit pool for laps daily - Now running and dancing at aerobic levels. Pipes total clean so it can be reversed with hard work and change of more better diet.

But if all goes well and he continues to smoke? Odds aint so good. Hope you dont and I truly hope your dad gets well so he can kick your ass and get you to move on.

Parents subject the babies who grow up as if they were smokers. Cars with windows rolled up just a horrible way to raise kids. All that exercise I do does make my lungs function re oxygen intake. I take in 30% more then regular people BUT when it comes to getting rid of the CO2 I am far below normal. No amount of anything I do can change that long term 2nd hand smoke damage.

Now for your health let me repeat this message.

eye no this will cum as a shock 2 ya but what gets full needs to empty. Plus if u don't u are asking for trouble by holding back. Solve two problems at one tyme.

Pee on cat. Sorry about the info on smoke and the only way you can find out is a very simple test you can get. Small device - lips to a tube and you blow as hard as you can and a few steps and they can tell you in seconds about how well your lungs function. In the mean tyme its a good excuse to excuse yourself around mom when in a small area.

Excellent and while you are in contact with his doctor and there are a few minutes here or there ask the Doc about yourself. I did and that few minutes led THEE to a life changing life style which I am more then happy with. My daily endorphin rush is one hell of an added bonus to my enjoyment of life.

Also b4 I forget. When my dad was in recovery from #1 the guy in the other bed was only 24 with his 1st. And for a few who think they may be physically fit?

Jim Fixx - Runner who sold millions of books; The Complete Book of Running. He is credited with helping start America's fitness revolution, popularizing the sport of running and demonstrating the health benefits of regular jogging.

IQ Good for Mensa - Fixx started running in 1967 at age 35. He weighed 240 pounds (110 kg) and smoked two packs of cigarettes per day. Ten years later, when his book, The Complete Book of Running (which spent 11 weeks at No. 1 on the best-seller list) was published, he was 60 pounds (27 kg) lighter and smoke-free. In his books and on television talk shows, he extolled the benefits of physical exercise and how it considerably increased the average life expectancy.

Fixx died at age 52 of a fulminant heart attack, after his daily run on Vermont Route 15 in Hardwick. The autopsy revealed that atherosclerosis had blocked one coronary artery 95%, a second 85%, and a third 70%. Although comedians remarked on the irony of dying while exercising.

Fixx never had tyme for breakfast and loaded up on donuts - at a high fat based diet that jammed up his pipes.

·Syntax 13.5 years ago, 8 minutes later, 16 hours after the original post[T] [B] #233,862

Don't have a clue. Some company probably gave him $250,000 to have name stamped on a shoe. I keep buying this brand and that and still end up placing a bit of mole skin here and there and for sure the heel ends are constantly in need of serious mole skin, because I wear out that heal part in just a couple 3 weeks.

Then Nike or adidas or Rockport changes the design a bit and wot was almost puuurfect is no longer worth my tyme.

About 4-5 tymes a year I end up messing my foot up a bit during rock climbing. Minor this or that which makes it a week 12 days before its healed nuff to run with shoes on.

I am in2 this ADD not miss a day thing no matter wot (about 25 days from a full 3.5 years of not missing a single day) So and this I do enjoy - I go barefoot into edge of the tide and of course that colder water helps keep the bruise from hurting. In high tide situations, I do NOT try and do a full 10 miles because that wood be more like the equiv of 20 or so. I just make sure I spend the same amount of tyme so I get my aerobic in.

Portugees man of war beached.jpgYea some say barefoot is more better. Thing is I doubt it wood work for me long run. Whoa UN-intentional pun.

When I do the limited bare foot in my Ocean a Blue water, I have to have eyes down as to avoid ROCKS - The beach is loaded with shells and a mussel shell is sharp and native Indians used them to cut stuff.

Rocks on sand as well as people who leave a bit of broken glass. One of my best gal friends who lives minutes from me, stepped on a Sting Ray. Another friend stepped on a beached Man of War.

Add to that are the few trails I run up and down on to add to a variation of views from the top of bluffs to bottom of beach. Bluffs are loaded with a Cactus that local Mexican's eat as a vegetable. Nopales.

Will show in a 2nd image. Fruits really good in a Margarita and 2eat albeit its got almost as many seeds in it as it has pulp. Even with shoes on occasion a needle will penetrate the shoe which is is is HURTS.

Fields of grass. Actually reminds me of a place I used to hike a bunch in Malibu area of LA CA.

Running down a hill in fields of wild flowers with group of friends in total nakkid n includes bare feet. Don't think I can think of a place around here to do such. Nakkid yes re a Nude beach just a very few miles on my beach but South. Blacks beach. Hummmmmmmm Grass as in fields here probably not.
