OP

A patent can be a license to steal. One has to decide if its worth the theft or if its such a great idea that one licenses it to those that will help protect it.

And if one decides to go the patent route one has to be careful about timing. Best have the invention ready to roll out FAST and Fully before release of Patent.

Or you may find your idea in production (by the thief) b4 you have the money to fund whatever you have.

My very best idea as original is NOT going the patent route until after its in production (Optical Chip) All one needs is a well kept notebook dated and verifiable with witness on a regular basis. Apple just lost a fortune re Samsung over some really dumb dumb decisions at the design stage in notebooks when it came to proof in courts.

@OP
That's right. Forget patents, just write dates in a notebook. It could potentially save you millions in a lawsuit.

@previous (D)
That is not exactly wot I said. Ying n Yang of Patents.

One just one patent has been so very nice to my wallet by comparison to those that are not out for public to see. Stuff US Gov holds is generally not so profitable.

Court looks at notebooks as to who invented wot when. The first with the idea fully explained which usually means lots of math for proof a well as diagram or such and dated is the one who wins in court.

So I did NOT SAY forget patents but I did say they can be license to steal so one better have a plan that includes THEFT in advance.
