Ever thought about doing something like home health care? Pay is decent, credentials or light, etc. I was picking up shifts once in a while just for the hell of it. Pay will vary, but it's usually okay, I got $17/hr and all I was getting paid for was just to make sure the neardead took their meds, hang out for a few minutes, then spend the night and play around on the intertubes or work on other projects. I'm not sure what the requirements are in TX, but here most places want EMTs/CNAs or better, some here will allow people with just a cpr certification to do it though.

EMT pay sucks here, man. Graveyard shifts in home health are a cakewalk and will pay a lot better, or at least that has been my experience. Still, being an EMT would be interesting if nothing else. You can always become a paramedic or nurse later. Either way, you'll always have a job in this field.
