Have three ways. Money in shoebox(mine's fireproof) Money in bank savings account, which make hardly any money and a couple of mutual funds thru Vanguard (ira/401k) very diversified way of saving but it's how I do it.

Check out Vanguard their website is very informative.

Split with most in mutual funds and yes Vanguard has some good options AND A Savings account.

Yes, but maybe not enough to survive the coming recession.
