Does dad have a technical background?

Tell me something about the computer you are using. CPU and current amount of ram and model number. Adding more RAM always without exception HELPS all levels of performance.

HOWEVER There is a limit to how much RAM the computer can use which is dependent on the model/build/ of the machine.

How much do you have and did you look up the limit on your model.

Kinda like a Bra. Putting on a larger bra will do nada if there is nothing to fill it up with - Bad analogy (Technically applicable) but Kook just luvs this kind of shit.

Ah as it reminds me of my FIRST Apple and I do mean Apple. You moved the Floppy disk to the O/S to get things booted n going then you moved that same Floppy over to the user side of the machine to do WP.

I do no a lot of people that have paid for RAM the machine cannot use. Does not really hurt but its a waste of good money. Also ducky lots n lots of people are dumping really GOOD Desktops cause their Tablet does all they need. On the used market a massive amount of power machines are selling dirt cheep.

Damn I forgot she is stuck with MAC.

So its bookcamp to run in Windows mode for the game. I am worthless at giving advice on MACS. When I was at Qualcomm as employee they offer all employes a choice of PC or MAC.

I stuck with PC and just about everyone I know in publishing and graphics work uses MAC's but everyone else uses PC's.

ducky can pick up a used PC loaded with multicore CPU n lots of Ram on the cheep.

Well there's your problem. It's basically running 2 operating systems at once in order to play a graphically intensive game in a very confined physical space. CPUs slow down when they get too hot, which happens fairly quickly in laptops that are not specifically designed for advanced gaming.

meh, well its either bootcamp or a new laptop. I HAVE to have bootcamp for sims to even run properly, on the mac side it glitches, freezes, crashes. idk in the beginning it was running amazingly

Could be 2 things.
1) delete your chan pic folder so you have lots of free space again
2) the fan has sucked in lots of dust in the process of trying to cool the machine down, and the dust has built up to a point where the airflow is too obstructed to be useful.

1) Only one operating system is being executed at any point in time, the other one peacefully resides on the disk and has no effect on the system performance whatsoever.
2) Confined physical space? I don't even?
3) CPUs always run at least at the marketed clock frequency. Some have some brand turbo boost shit that increases the frequency by a few hundred MHz for seconds but it should never drop below the one it says on the box and if it does then your cooling system isn't sufficient/faulty.
4) CPUs haven't been the bottleneck in most applications including games for almost a decade now. Still is HDD and memory swapping.

What she meant was she deleted some of her custom game content that of course then no longer takes away main memory when the game runs. Ducky just needs more RAM.

Data that just lie on the hard disk do not affect a computer's performance unless they get processed in some way which they typically don't if they are unrelated to the application (Sims in this case).

The only problem you get with mechanical hard drives is fragmentation, which happens after deleting and creating lots of files over a long period of time. Imagine creating a 100 MB file, deleting the first half of it, then creating another 100 MB file. Physically, the remainder of the first file will occupy the second 50 MB of the disk while the second file occupies the first 50 MB and then the 50 MB that come after the remainder of the first file. That effect adds up and after a while your drive's read/write head has to jump around like crazy to read one file.

Creating file A:

Deleting first half of file A:

Creating file B:

B B A A B B

If you now want to read file B the head has to jump over the A file first since B is fragmented.

Anyway its tyme for you to look around where you live and look up shops that work on MAC's - Find one that accepts you as a Dumb Blonde in need of brilliance from a shop Tech.

It takes only minutes to stick in more RAM and then you can see for self in a few minutes how your MAC works with more RAM. If the shop tech is Gay then put your 19 yr old gay buddy to work.

This is the best way to find out without spending money - The only trick is - You need to call around and ask for prices on RAM from a Shop first - No use going further if they charge too much.

OF COURSE as with a Best Buy type operation and I C they have a few in Toronto ...Call them and find out wot are slow days for tech support - go in when store opens and have them install the RAM

Look up appears to show RAM can be returned and since you are going to try the machine in store this should be easy

Tons of internet stuff on MACs running slow with Sims

You could just Google MAC runs slow with Sim or Mac lags with Sim

So many articles and a quick skim ...So you read this and that and came to the conclusion that going to the rite store will show both of you quickly how RAM makes things more better.

When booted in Windows I wood expect you to be able to run Task Manager. Control Alternate Delete and view Performance monitor - Jam ups show instantly and I am guessing when you say

That is wot you mean - because in Performance Monitor YOU GO Resource Monitor Then hit Memory Tab and then See the grey green orange and two blue bars that graphically show you were you are at.

So you really do not need to show him anything other then your computer internal HEART BEATS from this easy to view gizmo
