Topic: Why the fuck is "Chow mein" separated into 2 words while "Wonton" is 1 word?

it wouldnt have any sort of resemblance to stir fried noodles when saying only "Chow" or "mein".
same case for saying either "Won" or "ton", so they put them up together into a word, perfectly representing the Chinese dumpling
but not "Chow mein"? who the nigger fuck come up with this?
